Hi, I’m Lauren!

Washington-based dietitian by day, adventure-seeker by weekend.

I consider myself a late bloomer when it comes to being an “outdoorsy” person. While I spent my childhood playing make-believe outside, my family didn’t hike, camp, or climb. My real introduction to the outdoors wasn’t until I (re)discovered the PNW outdoor utopia in 2015 after moving back to Seattle for graduate school.

Over the last 8 years, I’ve sought out like-minded friends, mentors, and partners who have helped me grow my skillset and increase my risk tolerance in the mountains. Spending time in nature went from being a hobby, to something I now build my entire life around.

Compared to the competency levels of my mountaineering friends, I would classify myself an intermediate climber. While I have expanded my climbing resume significantly in the last 5 years, I still have so much to learn!

I hope this blog inspires women of all competency levels to feel more comfortable getting outside and learning new skills. I was 29 years old when I took my first overnight backpacking trip. I learned to outdoor rock climb, and snowboard, at 32 years old.

We all start somewhere; don’t let your ego tell you otherwise. Give yourself time and grace, and don’t forget to enjoy the journey! xx
